Senator Patty Ritchie Re-Named to Senate Select Committee on Libraries

According to an article on her Senate web page, Ritchie is "thrilled to once again be able to serve on the Senate Select Committee on Libraries and am looking forward to finding ways to support libraries and expand the resources they provide."

Senator Ritchie represents the 48th District, which includes 49 NCLS member libraries and 2 library branches.

Pew Research Center's "Library Services In The Digital Age" Report Released

On January 22, the Pew Research Center released its "Internet and American Life" project report on "Library Services in the Digital Age."  A statement was released by Maureen Sullivan, President of the American Library Association, about the report.

Outreach Department Receives Grant from Northern New York Community Foundation

The Northern New York Community Foundation has granted $1,700 to the NCLS Outreach Department for the purchase of 100 new mailing bags.  The blue reusable bags are used to deliver large print books and audio books to Outreach patrons throughout the North Country.  There are currently approximately 500 patrons using the service.  Eligible patrons are blind or visually impaired, elderly, physically disabled, or institutionalized.  The Outreach Department mails out over 100 bags per week
