Online Training

North Country Library System is pleased to announce the launch of the NCLS Online Training Site.  You may have noticed under our "Continuing Education" menu that we had two menus named "Online Training" and "Sirsi Training".  We have combined these to point to a new website dedicated to Online Training and Resources.  The site is in its infancy stage now, but we feel it will be a great addition to our Continuing Education program as it grows.

New York Library Trustees Online

NCLS, in collaboration with seven other public library systems in NYS, have launched a web site called "New York Library Trustees Online" at www.nylto.org.  This project is supported in part by Federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, awarded to the New York State Library by the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.

The site is open to library directors and trustees and we strongly encourage your participation!  In order to use the site and view its contents, you must be enrolled and logged in.  Instructions for enrollment appear in this PDF file demonstration.

Please join directors and trustees from Rochester to Utica to Elmira to Boonville and many libraries in between (most of them small ones!) in this important venture.

We hope the demonstration will get you excited about joining.  We look forward to receiving your enrollment requests!

Meet the Xi3!

DSCN1436.JPG

We are testing a new modular computer from Xi3 Corporation.    It costs roughly the same as a standard computer, but uses 90% less power and takes up a whole lot less space.   The universal mounting bracket shown here permits it to be attached to the back of any monitor.
