Jefferson Community College

10am:  Meeting and trustee elections

Senator Hugh Farley

At this year's annual meeting, we will have Senator Hugh Farley, a Watertown native, as our keynote speaker.  Senator Farley represents the 44th district in the Capitol region.

Current chair of the recently created Senate Select Committee on Libraries, Senator Farley is a long time library advocate.  As Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Libraries, he sponsored virtually every piece of major library legislation from 1978 through 2008.  During his tenure, state aid to libraries increased and new forms of library services, including school library systems and hospital library programs, were established.

Stay tuned for more information about the annual meeting on October 6th!

Repurposed books

At the NCLS Open House on Friday, April 27th, the Technical Services Department had a huge display of repurposed books that were created by staff at the Flower Memorial Library.  The displays were so popular that NCLS will be holding a workshop on the subject in the Fall!  Here are a few photos of the projects we had on display.
